New! Next Gen Men in Yukon

Host a Boys Group

in your community!

What is Next Gen Men?

  • A small-but-mighty Canadian non-profit who works towards one big goal — to change how the world sees, acts, and thinks about masculinity.

  • Next Gen Men has developed a program to help middle school boys challenge the status quo.

  • Next Gen Men’s youth programming is about building youth who are empathetic, accountable and courageous; who are emotionally capable, committed to gender equality and role models for their peers; able to develop supportive friendships, handle crises with resilience and positively affect their communities.

What is Happening in the Yukon? - BIG PICTURE

  • In Dec. 2023, with the support of Women and Gender Equality Canada and the Government of Canada, the Victoria Faulkner Women’s Centre and Les EssentiElles launched a 3-year, promising practice, in the Yukon!

  • Together with community members, we are adapting Next Gen Men’s program (for boys and non-binary folks aged 13-16) to meet the needs of Yukoners and the unique communities up here.

  • Trained mentors will eventually facilitate Boys Groups hosted by schools, community organizations, First Nations, or other groups .

  • Boys Groups can be hosted in a variety of formats and spaces: it could be weekly sessions at a community organization or school, a weekend-retreat space, sessions on the land, and more!

What is Happening in the Yukon? - RIGHT NOW

  • Currently adults are taking free mentorship training from Next Gen Men (both online and in-person). Our hope is that:

    • Some participants will go on to help facilitate Boys Groups across the Yukon (in teams of 2 facilitators)

    • All participants will bring the learnings back to their communities and integrate them into their jobs/volunteer roles/community and family roles.

  • We are recruiting community organisations/partners who would like to host a boys group in their space (ex. schools, community/youth centres).
